Kat Cutting Class
Teaching thinking for a world that’s changing fast.
Kat Cutting Class is a playful, research-informed space for educators who want to help students ask better questions, notice their own thinking, understand how language shapes thought, and regulate themselves when things get wobbly.
Here you’ll find bite-sized videos, big questions, and free classroom tools designed to bring metacognition, language awareness, emotional regulation, and systems thinking into the modern age of AI and humanity.
I’m Kat, a classroom teacher of 30+ years, former administrator, and educational consultant who’s helped thousands of students and educators grow, thrive, and stay inspired. No jargon. No enormous new curriculum. Just interesting ideas you can actually use.

Each Kat Cutting Class mini-series takes one interesting idea and pulls on the thread — language, history, psychology, neuroscience, culture, bias, technology, or AI. The goal isn't to tell students what to think. It's to give educators more ways to help them learn how to think.

Watching an interesting video is great.
But the real magic happens when students start practicing the thinking themselves.
That's why many Kat Cutting Class series include free, downloadable classroom resources you can use, adapt, print, or assign digitally.
Depending on the topic, you might find:
• discussion prompts
• student reflection sheets
• research activities
• source-evaluation exercises
• metacognition prompts
• age-differentiated activities
• teacher discussion guides

03 — About Kat
About Kat
I'm an educator, curriculum designer, researcher, and lifelong student of how human beings learn, communicate, and make meaning.
I've spent decades working in education—from classrooms and school administration to curriculum, assessment, teacher training, and educational publishing.
And lately I've found myself returning again and again to one question:
Are we teaching children the thinking skills they'll actually need for the world they're inheriting?
Kat Cutting Class grew out of that question.
I dig into educational research, psychology, language, neuroscience, history, technology, and systems—and then I try to bring the interesting pieces back down to earth:
What does this mean for a teacher standing in front of actual kids tomorrow morning?
That's where Kat Cutting Class lives.
Serious ideas.
Curious conversations.
Practical tools.
And hopefully a little fun along the way.

Stay Curious.
We don’t need children who simply know more answers.
We need young people who know how to question an answer, examine a source, notice their own thinking, change their minds when the evidence changes, and remain human while technology gets smarter.
That’s the work.
And class is just getting started.
